The president of the senate may appoint a legal counsel who shall be an attorney. The compensation of the legal counsel shall be set at a rate to be determined by the senate subcommittee of the legislative facilities committee established under RSA 17-E:5. The legal counsel shall provide advice and assistance to the president of the senate and to the senate members.
