Nevada Code § 711.0737

Local franchise defined

1. Local franchise means any franchise,
agreement, permit, license or similar authorization, regardless of its name,
which:
(a) Permits a person to construct or operate a
cable system, community antenna television system or video service network
within the jurisdiction of a local government;
(b) Was issued, granted, approved or renewed by
the governing body of the local government before June 4, 2007, pursuant to the
authority of any federal, state or local law in effect at the time of the
issuance, grant, approval or renewal; and
(c) On June 4, 2007, is legally effective and
unexpired.
2. The term includes, without limitation,
an unexpired local franchise that a local government in a county whose
population is less than 100,000 renews or extends the term of pursuant to NRS 711.480 and 711.490 .
