1. An employee of a municipality who is not licensed as a professional land surveyor pursuant to chapter 625 of NRS may collect information to be used exclusively by the municipality for preliminary planning for development of new airports or air navigation facilities or improvements to existing airports or air navigation facilities within the municipality. 2. If, based on the information collected pursuant to this section, the municipality elects to initiate or proceed with such a project, the municipality shall comply with the provisions of chapter 625 of NRS governing the: (a) Preparation of the maps, plans, specifications, reports and estimates required for the project; and (b) Execution or supervision of all other practices of land surveying associated with the project.
