Nevada Code § 483.900

Purposes

The
purposes of NRS 483.900 to 483.940 , inclusive, are to implement the
Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986, as amended, 49 U.S.C. chapter 313
( 31301 et seq.), and reduce or prevent commercial motor vehicle crashes,
fatalities and injuries by:
1. Permitting drivers of commercial motor
vehicles to hold only one license;
2. Providing for the disqualification of
drivers of commercial motor vehicles who have committed certain serious traffic
violations or other specified offenses;
3. Strengthening the licensing and testing
standards for drivers of commercial motor vehicles; and
4. Ensuring that drivers of commercial
motor vehicles carrying hazardous materials are qualified to operate a
commercial motor vehicle in accordance with all regulations pertaining to the
transportation of hazardous materials and have the skills and knowledge
necessary to respond appropriately to any emergency arising out of the
transportation of hazardous materials.
