1. The Director shall order the preparation of vehicle license plates for passenger cars and trucks in the same manner as is provided for motor vehicles generally in NRS 482.270 . 2. Except as otherwise provided by specific statute, the Director shall determine the combinations of letters and numbers which constitute the designations for license plates assigned to passenger cars and trucks. 3. Any license plate issued for a passenger car or truck before January 1, 1982, bearing a designation which is not in conformance with the system described in subsection 2 is valid during the period for which the plate was originally issued as well as during any extensions by stickers.
