Powers and duties of Chief; appointment of personnel to protect life and property and enforce state law

1. The Chief of the Nevada Highway Patrol
is the chief officer of the Nevada Highway Patrol and has the powers and duties
provided in NRS 480.360 , which must be
performed under the direction and supervision of the Director.
2. When requested by the Governor to
preserve order, protect life or property and enforce the laws of this State,
the Chief may appoint such personnel of the Nevada Highway Patrol as may be necessary
for that purpose. The salaries and expenses of the personnel incidental to
those operations must be paid out of appropriations for the Department from the
State General Fund.
