The board of directors may: 1. Provide emergency medical services within the county fire protection district; and 2. Purchase, acquire by donation or otherwise, lease, operate and maintain ambulances whenever necessary, and may take out liability and other insurance therefor. The board of directors may employ trained personnel to operate those vehicles.
