1. To the extent that federal financial participation is available, the Director shall include under Medicaid coverage for noninvasive prenatal screening at any time during pregnancy. 2. Medicaid must not require a recipient of Medicaid to obtain prior authorization for the benefits described in subsection 1. 3. The Authority shall: (a) Apply to the Secretary of Health and Human Services for any waiver of federal law or apply for any amendment of the State Plan for Medicaid that is necessary for the Authority to receive federal funding to provide the coverage described in subsection 1. (b) Fully cooperate in good faith with the Federal Government during the application process to satisfy the requirements of the Federal Government for obtaining a waiver or amendment pursuant to paragraph (a). 4. As used in this section, noninvasive prenatal screening means drawing blood from a person who is pregnant to perform laboratory analysis on the deoxyribonucleic acid circulating in the maternal blood stream for the purpose of detecting chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus.
