Erection of guideboard on county road; penalty for destruction or defacement

1. The board of county commissioners of
each county shall cause to be put up, and to be kept up thereafter, at each
crossing or fork of any county road in the county, a guideboard, having thereon
an index or pointer and the words To (naming the place or first point of any
importance on such road, and in remote desert and mountain areas to the nearest
water, and the number of miles, as near as may be, thereto) miles. The
guideboards must be put up and so placed at all such points as to enable
travelers readily to understand therefrom the road they wish to travel in order
to arrive at the desired destination, or to find water.
2. Unless a greater penalty is provided in NRS 202.287 , a person who willfully
tears down, digs up, shoots or in any manner defaces, destroys or carries away
any such guideboard, road marker, highway sign or descriptive sign is guilty of
a misdemeanor.
