Restitution paid by defendant convicted of misdemeanor: Collection; disbursement

1. If a justice of the peace orders a
defendant who is convicted of a misdemeanor to make restitution to a person
named in the order, the justice court or the county in which the justice court
is located shall collect the restitution paid by the defendant.
2. All money for restitution collected by
a justice court or county pursuant to subsection 1 must be paid to the person
named in the order in the manner set forth in the order.
3. If a justice court or county that has
collected money for restitution pursuant to subsection 1 cannot, after a good
faith effort, locate the person named in the order, it shall deposit the money
in a fund for the compensation of victims of crime created by the office of the
district attorney of the county in which the court is located.
