Nevada Code § 392.770

Principal required to offer certain instructional options to parent or legal guardian of pupil who demonstrates reading deficiency

In addition to the intervention services and
intensive instruction provided to a pupil who demonstrates a deficiency in the
subject area of reading identified pursuant to subsection 1 of NRS 392.750 or a pupil who will be provided
intervention services and intensive instruction while the pupil is enrolled in
an elementary school pursuant to NRS 392.760 ,
the principal of the school must offer the parent or legal guardian of the
pupil, to the extent practicable, in a language that the parent or legal
guardian can understand, at least one of the following instructional options:
1. Supplemental tutoring which is based
upon evidence-based research concerning reading instruction;
2. Providing the parent or legal guardian
with a plan for reading with the pupil at home and participating in any
workshops that may be available in the school district to assist the parent or
legal guardian with reading with his or her child at home, as set forth in an
agreement with the parent or legal guardian; or
3. Providing the pupil with a mentor or
tutor who has received specialized training in teaching pupils how to read.
