1. The board of trustees of a school district may: (a) Acquire and maintain membership in county, state and national school board associations and pay dues to such associations. (b) Pay the travel expenses and per diem allowances of trustees at the same rate provided for state officers and employees generally when the trustees attend county, state or national school board association meetings. 2. Claims for dues, travel expenses and per diem allowances authorized in subsection 1 shall be presented and allowed as provided by law for other claims against the school district.
