Secretary of State to determine number of signatures required for certain petitions

1. As soon as practicable after each general
election, the Secretary of State shall determine the number of signatures
required to be gathered from each petition district within the State for a
petition for initiative or referendum that proposes a constitutional amendment
or statewide measure.
2. To determine the number of signatures
required to be gathered from each petition district, the Secretary of State
shall calculate the amount that equals 10 percent of the voters who voted in
this State at the last preceding general election and divide that amount by the
number of petition districts. Fractional numbers must be rounded up to the
nearest whole number.
