Nevada Code § 286.293

Persons required to participate in System

1. The following employees of public
employers shall participate in the System:
(a) Those employed on or after July 1, 1977, in
positions considered to be half-time or more according to the full-time work
schedule established for that public employer.
(b) Elected officials or persons appointed to
elective positions who are elected or appointed after July 1, 1975, except
where excluded by NRS 286.297 and except
justices of the peace and municipal judges who are allowed and who elect to
participate in the Judicial Retirement Plan pursuant to NRS 1A.285 .
(c) A member whose allowance is vested or who is
contributing immediately before a legislative session who is employed on or
after January 1, 1981, by either house of the Legislature or by the Legislative
Counsel Bureau.
(d) A member of the Nevada Gaming Commission.
2. The Board shall establish standards for
determining what constitutes a full-time work schedule pursuant to paragraph
(a) of subsection 1.
