Nevada Code § 286.061

Police officer defined

Police
officer means a member who is:
1. Filling a full-time position with a
participating public employer, the principal duties of which require emotional
stability and physical capacity in protecting the public and enforcing the laws
of the State of Nevada or any of its political subdivisions.
2. The former holder of a position defined
in subsection 1 who has:
(a) Earned at least 2 years of creditable service
in that position; and
(b) Been promoted or transferred within the chain
of command by the same public employer to a position related to the protection
of the public and law enforcement.
3. The former holder of a position defined
in subsection 1 who:
(a) Has earned at least 2 years of creditable
service in that position; and
(b) Is employed by a different employer in a
position that would have been eligible under paragraph (b) of subsection 2 had
the member remained with the members former employer.
