1. A department is a local government employer for the purpose of the Government Employee-Management Relations Act and a public employer for the purpose of the Public Employees Retirement Act. 2. In negotiations arising under the provisions of chapter 288 of NRS: (a) The committee or two or more persons designated by the committee; and (b) The sheriff or a person designated by the sheriff, shall represent the department. 3. In negotiations arising under the provisions of chapter 288 of NRS, a school police unit must be considered a separate bargaining unit.
