Conflict of interest of member of governing body; penalties

1. It is unlawful for any member of the
governing body of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to be interested in any
contract made by that member, or be a purchaser or be interested in any
purchase of a sale made by that member in the discharge of his or her official
duties.
2. All contracts made in violation of
subsection 1 may be declared void at the instance of the Tahoe Regional
Planning Agency, or of any other party interested in such contract, except the
member prohibited from making or being interested in such contract.
3. Any person violating the provisions of
this section, directly or indirectly, shall forfeit his or her office, and
shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000, or by imprisonment in the
state prison for not more than 1 year, or by both fine and imprisonment.
