1. If a notary public resigns or dies during his or her appointment, the notary public, or the executor of the estate of the notary public, as appropriate, shall: (a) Notify the Secretary of State of the resignation or death; and (b) Destroy the notarys stamp. 2. Upon the receipt of the notice required by subsection 1, the Secretary of State shall cancel the appointment of the notary public, effective on the date on which the notice was received.
