Base salary

1. Until the first Monday in January 2025,
the justices of the Supreme Court whose terms of office expire on the first
Monday in January 2025 are entitled to receive an annual base salary of
$170,000. On the first Monday in January 2025, the annual base salary must be
increased by an amount equal to the cumulative percentage increase in the
salaries of the classified employees of this State during the immediately
preceding 12 years. Every sixth year thereafter, the annual base salary of
their successors in office must be increased by an amount equal to the
cumulative percentage increase in the salaries of the classified employees of
this State during the immediately preceding 6 years.
2. Until the first Monday in January 2027,
the justices of the Supreme Court whose terms of office expire on the first
Monday in January 2027 are entitled to receive an annual base salary of
$170,000. On the first Monday in January 2027, the annual base salary must be
increased by an amount equal to the cumulative percentage increase in the
salaries of the classified employees of this State during the immediately
preceding 12 years. Every sixth year thereafter, the annual base salary of
their successors in office must be increased by an amount equal to the
cumulative percentage increase in the salaries of the classified employees of
this State during the immediately preceding 6 years.
3. Until the first Monday in January 2029,
the justices of the Supreme Court whose terms of office expire on the first
Monday in January 2029 are entitled to receive an annual base salary of
$170,000. On the first Monday in January 2029, the annual base salary must be
increased by an amount equal to the cumulative percentage increase in the
salaries of the classified employees of this State during the immediately
preceding 12 years. Every sixth year thereafter, the annual base salary of
their successors in office must be increased by an amount equal to the
cumulative percentage increase in the salaries of the classified employees of
this State during the immediately preceding 6 years.
4. All salaries provided for in this
section are payable in biweekly installments as other state officers are paid.
