85-9-102 . Purpose of chapter. The purpose of this chapter is to enable the formation of conservancy districts comprised of area in one or more counties to promote the following purposes: (1) prevent and control floods, erosion, and sedimentation; (2) provide for regulation of stream flows and lake levels; (3) improve drainage and to reclaim wet or overflowed lands; (4) promote recreation; (5) develop and conserve water resources and related lands, forest, fish, and wildlife resources; (6) further provide for the conservation, development, and utilization of land and water for beneficial uses, including but not limited to domestic water supply, fish, industrial water supply, irrigation, livestock water supply, municipal water supply, recreation, and wildlife.
