76-25-214 . Area plans. (1) A local governing body may adopt area plans for a portion of the jurisdiction to provide a more localized analysis of all or any part of a land use plan. An area plan may include but is not limited to a neighborhood plan, a corridor plan, or a subarea plan. (2) The adoption, amendment, or update of an area plan must follow the same process as a land use plan provided for in this part and may be adopted as an amendment to the land use plan. (3) The area plan must be in substantial compliance with the land use plan. To the extent an area plan is inconsistent with the land use plan, the land use plan controls.
