50-19-302 . Purposes. The purposes of this part are to: (1) assure that mothers and children, in particular those with low income or with limited availability of health services, receive access to quality maternal and child health services; (2) reduce infant mortality and the number of low birthweight babies; and (3) prevent the incidence of children born with chronic illnesses, birth defects, or severe disabilities as a result of inadequate prenatal care.
