44-11-303 . Definitions. When used in this part, unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply: (1) "Law enforcement agency" means a public agency lawfully established by statute or executive order that is responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of penal, traffic, regulatory, or game laws. (2) "Law enforcement agency of this state" or "law enforcement agency of another (or any other) state" includes, respectively, a law enforcement agency of a political subdivision of this state and a law enforcement agency of a political subdivision of another state. (3) "Mutual aid agreement" or "agreement" means an agreement between two or more law enforcement agencies, consistent with the purposes of this part. (4) "Party law enforcement agency" means a law enforcement agency that is a party to a mutual aid agreement as set forth in this part. (5) "Peace officer" has the meaning as defined in 46-1-202 .
