39-4-110 . Sugar refineries. (1) A period of not to exceed 8 hours constitutes a day's work for all persons employed in or about sugar refineries, except in a case of emergency when life or property is in danger. (2) The provisions of this section do not apply to beet receiving station employees or superintendents, master mechanics, or beet-end, sugar-end, and Steffan house supervisors. (3) A person, corporation, agent, manager, or employer who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction is punishable by a fine of not less than $50 or more than $600 or by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 30 days or more than 7 months, or both.
