Child Sexual Abuse Awareness And Prevention

20-7-1311 . Child sexual abuse awareness and prevention. (1) The office of public instruction is encouraged to develop and maintain model school district policies and procedures for child sexual abuse awareness, prevention, response, and reporting. (2) The office of public instruction shall make any model policies and procedures developed under subsection (1) available for voluntary adoption by school district trustees. (3) Any model policies and procedures developed under subsection (1) may include the following topics: (a) basic principles of child sexual abuse prevention; (b) warning signs of a child who is being sexually abused; (c) actions that a child who is a victim of sexual abuse may take to obtain assistance; (d) counseling options; (e) educational support available for a child who is a victim of sexual abuse to enable the child to develop the child's full educational potential; and (f) response and reporting procedures.
