An agricultural research district may be dissolved by a vote of the landowners of the county who are qualified to vote on the creation of the district. An election to dissolve a district may be held upon a vote of the board of supervisors of the district and shall be held upon petition of a number of qualified landowners of the county equal to ten percent of all the qualified landowners of the county. The ballot of submission shall be in substantially the following form: If a majority of the qualified landowners voting thereon vote to dissolve the district, the board of supervisors shall proceed to pay all outstanding obligations of the district, dissolve the district and distribute any remaining assets on a per acre basis to the landowners of the county who were qualified to vote on dissolving the district.
