Head of program to release certain patients — notification to interested parties — involuntary patient may become voluntary, notification to interested parties.

1. The head of a mental health program shall release any person who is involuntarily detained under this chapter when, in his or her opinion, the person is no longer mentally ill or the person, although mentally ill, does not present a likelihood of serious harm to himself or herself or others, even though the detention period has not expired.
2. Whenever the head of a mental health program discharges a person prior to the expiration of the detention order, he or she shall notify, in writing, the court.
3. Whenever a respondent voluntarily admits himself or herself and the head of a mental health program accepts the admission application submitted by respondent in good faith under section 632.105 , the respondent's involuntary detention shall cease, and the head of the program shall notify, in writing, the court.
