Missouri Code § 57.160

Failure to turn over — guilty of misdemeanor and subject to civil action on bond.

Any outgoing sheriff who shall fail or refuse for sixty days to turn over to his successor in office any fee or money required to be turned over by the provisions of section 57.150 shall be liable on his bond for double the amount that he shall fail or refuse to turn over, to be recovered by a civil action in the name of the person to whom said money or fees is due; and, in addition thereto, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five nor more than two hundred and fifty dollars.
