1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2 of section 486.650 , a notary shall not influence a person either to enter into or avoid a transaction involving a notarial act by the notary. 2. A notary commission shall not authorize the notary to investigate, ascertain, or attest to the lawfulness, propriety, accuracy, or truthfulness of a document or transaction involving a notarial act.
