Banking institutions, trust companies, insurance companies, and loan and investment companies may (1) Make loans and advances of credit and purchases of obligations representing loans and advances of credit which are eligible for insurance pursuant to title I, section 2, of the National Housing Act, and obtain such insurance; (2) Make loans secured by real property or leasehold interests which the Federal Housing Administrator insures or makes a commitment to insure pursuant to title II of the National Housing Act, and obtain such insurance.
