1. Each member of the board shall receive as compensation an amount set by the board not to exceed fifty dollars for each day devoted to the affairs of the board, and shall be entitled to reimbursement of his expenses necessarily incurred in the discharge of his official duties. 2. The board may employ such board personnel, as defined in subdivision (4) of subsection 11 of section 324.001 , including legal counsel, as is necessary for the administration of this chapter.
