Officers of commission; executive director

(1) At the meeting to be held each January, the commission shall elect from its membership a chairman and a vice chairman. Each officer shall serve a term of one (1) year and shall not vacate office until a successor is elected. (2) The chairman shall preside at all meetings of the commission. (3) The vice chairman shall act as presiding officer in the absence of the chairman and shall perform such other duties as the chairman may direct. (4) The commission shall appoint an executive director who shall not be a member of the commission, to a term of four (4) years, with the advice and consent of the Senate, consistent with the provisions of Section 7-1-35 , Mississippi Code of 1972. (5) The executive director shall: (a) Notify all members of meetings; (b) Keep a record of all meetings of the commission, votes taken by the commission and other proceedings, transactions, communications, official acts and records of the commission; and (c) Perform such other duties as the chairman directs.
