Public moneys to be promptly paid by legal representatives

It is the duty of the legal representative of every tax collector or other officer who shall die having public money in his hands to promptly pay the same over to the proper authorities. Nothing herein contained shall in any manner vary or affect the liability of such officer or his bondsmen. Codes, 1892, § 3078; 1906, § 3486; Hemingway's 1917, § 2824; 1930, § 2912; 1942, § 4058.
