Mississippi Code § 11-1-54

Assessment for filing frivolous claims

If a party files any pleading in a civil action which in the opinion of the court is frivolous, the court may impose an assessment of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) against each party and attorney of record for the party filing the pleading. Such assessment shall be in addition to any other assessments, penalties or sanctions authorized by law or otherwise. The proceeds of any assessment imposed under this section shall be paid to the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc. Laws, 2002, 3rd Ex. Sess., ch. 4, § 13, eff. 1/1/2003.
