For purposes of this section, " correctional fee" means a fee for local correctional services established by a probation agency or the commissioner of corrections under section 244.18 . When a court places a person convicted of a crime under the supervision and control of a probation agency, the agency may collect a correctional fee based on the agency's fee schedule adopted under section 244.18 , subdivision 2. When a person convicted of a crime is supervised by the commissioner of corrections, the commissioner may collect a correctional fee based on the commissioner's fee schedule adopted under section 244.18 , subdivision 2.
