Minnesota Code § 375.46

MAY GIVE GENERAL FUND MONEY TO SHERIFF FOR PATROLS.

A county board may appropriate, out of its general fund, money to permit the sheriff to patrol the roads and highways of the county to investigate conditions respecting observances of laws.
Upon request by the county board the sheriff shall provide a patrol of roads and highways as provided in subdivision 1.
