(a) A public school is encouraged to adopt a school policy on parental notification for unscheduled student removal from class. The public school must consult with child abuse prevention experts to incorporate best practices into the school policy. A public school with a policy on parental notification must include the policy in the employee handbook and disseminate information to school staff regarding child abuse prevention in a school setting. (b) A nonpublic school under section 123B.41, subdivision 9 , or a Tribal contract school is encouraged to adopt a policy consistent with this section.
