Sec. 1a. At the arraignment of an accused charged with a misdemeanor or an ordinance violation, the magistrate shall read to the accused the charge as stated in the warrant or complaint. The accused shall plead to the charge, and the plea shall be entered in the court's minutes. If the accused refuses to plead, the magistrate shall order that a plea of not guilty be entered on behalf of the accused. History: Add. 1980, Act 506, Imd. Eff. Jan. 22, 1981
