Sec. 3. (1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2), the court may issue an order under this act only after notice and opportunity for a hearing appropriate in the circumstances. (2) The court may issue an order under this act under the following circumstances: (a) Without prior notice if cause exists to require issuance of an order before notice is given. (b) After notice and without a prior hearing if cause exists to require issuance of an order before a hearing is held.
