Sec. 1001. A foreign corporation that was authorized to conduct affairs in this state on January 1, 1983, for a purpose for which a corporation might secure authority to conduct affairs in this state under this act, has the rights and privileges applicable to a foreign corporation that receives a certificate of authority to conduct affairs in this state under this act. Beginning on January 1, 1983, the corporation is subject to the duties, restrictions, penalties, and liabilities under this act that are applicable to a foreign corporation that receives a certificate of authority to conduct affairs in this state under this act.
