Sec. 8. The university shall consist of at least 3 departments: 1. A department of literature, science and the arts; 2. A department of law; 3. A department of medicine; 4. Such other departments may be added as the regents shall deem necessary, and the state of the university fund shall allow. History: 1851, Act 151, Eff.
