Sec. 245. The directors of psychiatric hospitals operated by the department may grant staff privileges to psychiatrists employed by or under contract with a community mental health services program under guidelines established by the hospital's governing body if requested by the executive director of the program. Staff privileges authorized under this section include the admission, treatment, and discharge of patients admitted from that program's service area. The credentials committee of the medical staff of the hospital shall review the credentials of all applicants for staff privileges and recommend to the hospital director the approval or disapproval of the granting of staff privileges to the applicant.
