Section 72A. The department may upon petition authorize an electric company to enter upon lands of any person or corporation for the purpose of making a survey preliminary to eminent domain proceedings. The department shall give notice of the authorization granted, by registered mail, to the landowners involved at least five days prior to any entry by such electric company. The company entering upon any such lands shall be subject to liability for any damages occasioned thereby, to be recovered under chapter seventy-nine. Section 72A. The energy facilities siting board may, upon petition, authorize an electric company to enter upon lands of any person or corporation for the purpose of making a survey preliminary to eminent domain proceedings. The energy facilities siting board shall give notice of the authorization granted, by registered mail, to the landowners involved not less than 5 days prior to any entry by such electric company. The company entering upon any such lands shall be subject to liability for any damages occasioned thereby to be recovered under chapter 79.
