(a) On canceling, suspending, or revoking a driver's license, the
Administration shall require that the license be surrendered to the Administration.
(b) At the end of a suspension period, the Administration shall issue a
driver's license to the licensee.
(c) When the Administration suspends or revokes a Maryland driver's
license or issues a restricted license, the suspension, revocation, or restriction is
effective at the time the decision is rendered, unless otherwise ordered by the
Administration.
(d) Credit for the term of the suspension, revocation, or period of restriction
shall begin only after the Administration has received:
(1) The driver's license issued to the licensee immediately prior to the
decision to suspend, revoke, or restrict the license; or
(2) A certification that:
(i) A Maryland driver's license is not in the possession of the
licensee; and
(ii) If the Maryland driver's license comes into the licensee's
possession, the licensee shall immediately surrender the license to the
Administration.
