(a) On or before December 1, 2025, to assist the State in meeting its solar energy commitments under Title 7, Subtitle 7 of the Public Utilities Article, the Department of Natural Resources, in consultation with the Maryland Energy Administration, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Planning, shall update the publicly available SmartDG+ tool to include State-owned land suitable for solar energy development. (b) On or before December 1, 2026, the Department of Natural Resources, in consultation with the Maryland Energy Administration, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Planning, shall analyze land owned by the State to identify land suitable for solar energy development to assist the State in meeting its solar energy commitments under Title 7, Subtitle 7 of the Public Utilities Article.
