(a) (1) Each public safety answering point shall employ standards-based protocols for the processing of 9-1-1 requests for emergency assistance. (2) A public safety answering point shall ensure that each 9-1-1 specialist employed by the public safety answering point is certified in each discipline related to 9-1-1 requests for assistance for which the 9-1-1 specialist is responsible for receiving and processing. (b) A public safety answering point may establish a telecommunicator emergency response team to respond to, relieve, assist, or augment other public safety answering points when those public safety answering points are affected by natural or human-made disasters.
