(a) There is a Healthy Aging Program in the Department. (b) The purposes of the Program are to: (1) promote healthy aging and healthy living by older adults at both the State and local levels; (2) encourage aging safely at home and in the community; (3) raise public awareness about the importance of healthy aging and aging safely for both individuals and the public at large; (4) evaluate the need for improving the quality and accessibility of existing healthy aging opportunities and services; (5) improve the quality of life and contain health care costs of older adults; (6) provide competitive funding grants to design and test programs and services that help older adults achieve healthy and safe aging and healthy living; and (7) publicly disseminate the outcomes of the grants awarded under the Program.
