(a) In this section, "moving vessel" means a vessel as defined in § 8-701 of
the Natural Resources Article that:
(1) Is in the water; and
(2) Is not anchored or tied to a fixed object.
(b) (1) A physician, pharmacist, dentist, or nurse who treats an
individual for an injury that was caused or shows evidence of having been caused by
an accident involving a moving vessel, or the individual in charge of a hospital that
treats the injured individual, shall notify the county sheriff, the county police, the
Department of State Police, or the Natural Resources Police of the injury as soon as
practicable.
(2) A police department notified of an accident involving a moving
vessel promptly shall advise the Department of Natural Resources.
(c) A report of injury shall include:
(1) The injured individual's name and address, if known;
(2) A description of the injury; and
(3) Any other facts concerning the matter that might assist in
detecting crime.
(d) An individual who fails to make a report under subsection (b)(1) of this
section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding
$25.
