Before assuming the duties of office, each deputy and clerk of a register shall
take and subscribe the following oath:
I, (name), do swear that I will not for money, profit, or malice delay any person
who applies to me for any business of the office of the register, or directly or indirectly

ask, take, exact, demand, or receive from or charge to that person to my own use any
fee or reward for any service I may do as a deputy or clerk of the register, and that in
charging the fees of the office of the register I will not willingly charge other or higher
fees than the law allows.
