(a) In the coastal plain physiographic province of this State, a person may use any of the conventional, on-site sewage disposal systems identified in subsection (b) of this section if: (1) The system is recommended by the Department as being the most appropriate; and (2) The Secretary does not determine that the installation of the specific proposed system would be prejudicial to public health, safety, and welfare. (b) Systems that may be used under subsection (a) of this section are: (1) A septic tank or aerobic treatment system with: (i) Standard trench or deep trench subsurface irrigation; (ii) A seepage pit; or (iii) A sand mound disposal system; and (2) Any other on-site sewage disposal system that the Department in its regulations states is conventional. (c) The Department may adopt regulations to carry out this section.
